The Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) is a program
for obtaining permanent residency in Canada through a passive investment. Here
are the key details and requirements for the 2024 iteration of the program:
- Management
Experience: Applicants must have at least two years of management
experience in the five years preceding the application.
- Net
Worth: Applicants must have a legally acquired net worth of at least
CAD $2 million.
- Investment:
Applicants must make a five-year term investment of CAD $1.2 million
through an authorized financial intermediary. This investment is
guaranteed by the Quebec government and will be returned without interest
after five years. Alternatively, a non-refundable financial contribution
of CAD $200,000 can be made.
- Education:
Applicants must hold a diploma at least equivalent to a Quebec secondary
school diploma.
- French
Language Proficiency: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in
spoken French at level 7 (B2) on the Quebec scale of French language
proficiency for immigrants.
- Residency
Requirement: After obtaining a selection certificate, applicants must
stay in Quebec for at least 12 months within the first two years. This
period can be split between the principal applicant and their spouse.
This program has quite lengthy processing times and requires
a great deal of financial documentation, but for some French-speaking applicants
it is the best choice. We can help you decide if the QIIP is the best option for you, and also evaluate other programs which may be more effective, for example, a Provincial Nominee Program or Start-Up Visa. For further information, please get in touch with our team.
